Extra Credit - in all of geography classes, I offer one (1) limited extra credit opportunity, which I will announce throughout the semester. The total equals 2 percentage points. For example if you are in the regular class, you have 10 of 500 points extra (above and beyond the total points you can earn). For the online folks that number is 20 of 1000 points possible.
This helps students with their grades who demonstrate extra effort and need, such as with the Physical Geography classes.
The main extra credit opportunity for all classes is chosing one of the Sierra College Natural History Museum Lecture Series (click on Lectures when there). The topics range from scientific research of butterflys and bats to a solo John Muir play. Only about 3 or 4 events occur each semester, so pick one early in the semester. Most events are in Sewell Hall; however, some are located elsewhere, such as Dietrich Theater. These events are usually on Friday evenings starting at 7:30 p.m and often lasting for 1 1/2 hours. For students, the cost is $2 and $5 for general public, but some events cost more and the cost is subject to change in the future.
